Well 09 is here & Dre still didn't drop shit!!!, so to please my groupie here we go,
BEST OVER ALL HIP ARTIST :
KANYE WEST
Despite lack luster 808's sales, and doing/saying some wild shit deserving of a motherly pop/slap to the head(R.I.P Dr. Donda West)...his Glow in the Dark Tour was simple epic!!.This summer am sure, i was just one, among his millions fan globally who stood up in some sold out arena singing lyrics his from begin to end...he had ah true genius year
CLOSE BUT NO CIGAR:
COMMON-Dude was like all up in your TV/MOVIE screen in 08 but that still didn't stop him from delivering a Stella album...good look "com"
BEST NEW ARTIST:
All the artist honored in XXL mag freshman 10/Dec 09 issue + Drake
In 08, hip hop seemed to have an abundance talented MC'S comin out of all corners of the map, from che grand/fresh daily in east,x.v/Naledge in mid,Dom kennedy/shawn jackson in west, bobby creek water/Novel down south,& JD ERA/ PROMISE up north ,what set these guys(xxl honorees)a part from the field is that they put in some serious work on the mixtape Circuit, lets hope it carry in to 09 when most of them are sighted to drop their first Major label LP'S.
BEST ALBUM:
The Renaissance by Q-Tip
It seem like these days hip-hop most album are just chocked filled with singles from "Multiple Composers" ... which sound like a good recipe for success(carter3), but as a true hip hop head, you can`t listen to these albums in whole, you always gotta skip thru to find the tracks you like...why? cause they lack concept,a unified grove...with that said i dare you to listen the Renaissance from begin to end, you'll see it it give of ah Simula vibe to commons 05 "BE" another hip Album that could of been classified R&B but was stock with ill rhymes...the Renaissance delivers true to its title ...
